Flags series from the “little Tibet” in Abruzzo
The Flag series represents the idea of condensing into a fabric the natural and emotional spaces one feels one belongs to or needs most. These flags are a tribute to the nomadic and multifaceted character of fabric, which has served several functions for humankind: wrapping, protecting, containing and representing.
The Flag series is also a tribute to the archaic nature of Abruzzo with its wide, still wild spaces that anthropologist Fosco Maraini described as Little Tibet. Flags are crafted by using mainly Abruzzo-sourced organic wool from grazing sheep in the Campo Imperatore, an area at over 2000 metres of altitude, tibetan wool, silk, linen and hemp.
