TERRAE

Inspired by the lunar maps of Galileo and Hevelius, the TERRAE series approaches fantastic ideas of discovering new lands where imaginary and personal universes take on a hybrid texture. Terrae tapestries visually materialise and simulate these imaginary spaces. These tapestries constitute an invitation to play with the imagination and seem to ask: What do you see when you look at me?

FLAGS

The Flag series represents the idea of condensing into a fabric those natural and emotional spaces to which one feels one belongs or needs most. These Flags are also a homage to the archaic nature of Abruzzo with its wide and still wild spaces. Flags are crafted by using mainly Abruzzo-sourced organic wool from grazing sheep in the Campo Imperatore, an area at over 2000 metres of altitude, silk, linen and hemp.

GLEANINGS

Inspired by Agnes Varda’s documentary Les glaneurs et la glaneuse, these textile panels are the result of a 'gleaning' process. The gleaning activity is something necessary we practice everyday and it has something to do with the recovery of value both material and emotional. The practice of gleaning brings with it a moment of choice, you evaluate, you decide whether to let go, recovering or processing.

SHIFTING PARALLES

Shifting parallels is a series of hand woven panels mainly from linen, hemp, bamboo and banana silk. The alternation of pure colours builds an aesthetic based on the rhythm of line and color. Variations of these panels in different colours, materials and sizes are made by commission.

OPUS

This series take inspiration from the ancient construction technique of the stone huts (tholos), ancient rural shelters used by shepherds in central Italy. The stones were carefully chosen and superimposed layer by layer without the use of lime or bonding material. Somehow it is a kind of wall weaving where each stone between the interstices contributes to stability.
